The Florida Senate Appropriations Committee unanimously passed a workers compensation reform bill on Thursday. Florida SB1582 would increase a time limit on temporary partial disability and temporary total disability benefits from 104 weeks to 260 weeks. The change would codify workers comp case law established under Westphal vs. City of St. Petersburg, a 2016 Florida Supreme Court decision that found the 104-week time limit to be unconstitutional.
