Travelers released its third quarter earnings. According to the latest data. the company’s profit advanced one percent as sales growth accelerated, and improved underwriting margins helped cushion lower investment income. Net income climbed to $928 million from $919 million a year earlier. Results may bolster investment at a time of uncertainty in Travelers’ leadership due to the departure of Jay Fishman, the insurer’s CEO. Fishman is leaving in December after announcing in August of this year that he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS.
