In March 2018, the number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks or more) was little changed at 1.3 million and accounted for 20.3 percent of the unemployed, according to new Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers. In March 2017, the number of long-term unemployed accounted for 23.4 percent of the unemployed.
