The Louisiana Workforce Commission issued a bulletin yesterday addressing errors in the ICD-10 emergency rule published in the September Louisiana Register. The Commission states in part: “Pursuant to an emergency rule published in the September 2015 Louisiana Register, effective October 1, 2015, OWC has implemented ICD-10 medical coding in compliance with changes mandated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Due to formatting issues, the LWC-WC-1010 form as printed in the emergency rule is in error. The only change to the 1010 form is that ICD-10 codes should be entered in place of ICD-9 codes in SECTION 2. Request for Authorization, and as may be necessary elsewhere. Providers and other stakeholders should continue to use the current 1010 form as it appears on OWC’s website, subject to the requirement that ICD-10 coding be used effective October 1, 2015.
