A new Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews analysis on the effects of yoga on treating chronic nonspecific low back pain has found “modest” positive outcomes with regard to improved function and reduced pain, according to University of Maryland researchers and other investigators. The analysis, which included 1,080 participants from 12 trials conducted in the United States, India and the United Kingdom, reviewed studies comparing yoga’s effects with no specific treatment, minimal intervention (e.g., booklets or lectures on self-care), or another active treatment.
