A Slidell man has been sentenced to two years in federal prison and three years of probation for making false claims in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon disaster, according to a news release Wednesday from U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite’s office. U.S. District Judge Stanwood Duval sentenced the man, who pleaded guilty to two counts of wire fraud and also will have to repay $355,521, in addition to the jail time.
