The 2018 Regular Legislative Session began on March 12th at noon. New bills have been added to this list including one that would make changes to medical examinations and one that would add new conditions to Louisiana’s existing medical marijuana program.
The Louisiana Office of Workers’ Compensation hosted its eighth annual Educational Conference at the Renaissance Hotel in Baton Rouge, February 1st and 2nd. Included in the dynamic program was an update on the status of Louisiana’s new medical marijuana program, featuring the state Senator who spearheaded the effort, and the LSU Ag Center doctor overseeing the cultivation of the product.
The Louisiana Claims Association held its 2017 conference at the Hilton Capitol Center in Baton Rouge June 7th-9th. The event, now in its 23rd year, highlighted speakers from other parts of the country and featured a whole track of workers’ comp lectures. Jose Ortiz of Absolute Data Processing on medical marijuana and Mark Popolizio of ISO Claims Partners on MSAs were two out-of-state standouts.
