Comp in Focus is a bimonthly luncheon speaker series presented by Louisiana Comp Blog. The series addresses emergent issues in the workers’ compensation industry, with speakers from both employer/insurer and claimant/labor sides of the arena.
The speaker for September 20th, 2016 at Mr. B’s Bistro in New Orleans is Steve Alexander, an actuary based in Florida with his own Alexander Actuarial Consulting. Mr. Alexander is a Fellow of both the Casualty Actuarial Society and Society of Actuaries and has experience in pricing, reserving and regulation of all lines of insurance.
In light of the steep proposed 19.6 percent workers’ comp rate hike proposed by NCCI for our neighboring Florida, Mr. Alexander will address the role of NCCI in the industry:
Does NCCI have too much power? How do its actions affect all system participants and should the industry take a stand? Are its methods (technical and otherwise) representative of the modern workers’ compensation industry and its challenges?
Join us in the debate!
As usual, we will begin with wine and networking at 11 AM, followed by lunch and discussion at 11:45. The event concludes at 1 PM. Parking for attendees is available at a discounted rate through Mr. B’s at Solaris’s garage located at 721 Iberville Street (across from Dickie Brennan’s in the French Quarter).
