Despite the rain, which continued to shower the Southeastern Louisiana region for the third straight day on Wednesday, agents and company representatives from across the state came out to enjoy some camaraderie and education at the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of Louisiana annual educational conference and trade show.
The event, held at the Crowne Plaza Executive Center in Baton Rouge, featured two, three-hour continuing education sessions for independent agents geared toward owners and other top staff. The first, “Producer and Staff Management,” addressed the ways in which operations management that promotes efficiency and procedures within the individual agency can create sales growth and opportunity. The second session, “10 Myths of Agency Management,” focused on general misconceptions in the independent agent’s business and how managers can correct such missteps.
Both sessions were conducted by Chris Burand, owner and president of Burand and Associates, a management consulting firm specializing in the property-casualty insurance industry.
Lunch was provided between the sessions and served in the exhibit hall, giving sponsors a chance to make new connections and reboot old ones as agents made the rounds. Check out the slideshow below for a taste of what you may have missed!
