Two LA-based Uber drivers have filed a class action lawsuit alleging labor violations against the ride-hailing company. This case comes on the heels of a singular ruling from the California Labor Commission regarding a San Francisco Uber driver seeking reimbursement for mileage and expenses. That ruling is being appealed by the company. In this case, Uber drivers Lori Kellett and David Cotoi accuse Uber of “indifference and conscious disregard of the rights of all employees,” by failing to compensate drivers for maintaining vehicles, paying for smartphones in order to run the Uber app, or fronting the costs of a required $1 million insurance policy.
