Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin reorganized for the second time the state board that nominates candidates for him to appoint as workers’ compensation judges. Bevin abolished the seven-member Kentucky Workers’ Compensation Nominating Commission he had created by an earlier executive order on May 9th and created a new five-member panel called the Workers’ Compensation Nominating Committee. The temporary injunction issued by the judge in the case last week, which was sought by labor unions, will remain in effect until he issues a final judgment or decides to amend it after an expedited review. The second reorganization is an effort by Bevin’s office to “address some of the court’s concerns.”
