The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) has not set a deadline for determining whether it will accept NCCI’s proposed 19.6 percent rate hike for workers’ comp in the state. The OIR held a contentious public meeting last week to discuss the changes and NCCI’s reasoning, which is primarily due to a group of Supreme Court decisions affecting temporary total disability benefits and attorney fees. Public comments on the filing will be accepted until August 23rd. The increase, if approved, is set to go into effect on October 1st, 2016.
