The Hartford’s board of directors has elected Chief Executive Officer Christopher J. Swift to the additional role of Chairman of the Board. Swift succeeds Liam E. McGee, who stepped down as CEO of The Hartford in July 2014, and who has now resigned from the board entirely. According to an Insurance Journal report, the move has occurred earlier than initially planned. McGee, a former Bank of America executive who took over as CEO of The Hartford 2009, stepped down in June after a medical procedure related to a brain tumor. He was known for his maneuvers aimed at narrowing The Hartford’s focus.
