The Louisiana Hospital Association has published its annual report on healthcare in the state. Hospitals and the Louisiana Economy 2014 (prepared by James A. Richardson) addresses economic trends in healthcare, including the fact that health care overall employs more people than any other industry in the state. Louisiana’s 207 hospitals, receiving net revenues from private insurers, Medicare, Medicaid, and self-pay, provided jobs for 98,224 persons with an annual payroll of over $4.62 billion as reported in the 2012 federal publication, County Business Patterns.
