Louisiana Economic Development’s FastStart workforce development program would see major cuts under the state proposed budget. The Advertiser reported that LED Secretary Don Pierson said Monday that proposed budget cuts of 21 percent for his department may affect FastStart. The program prepares employees for new businesses and industries who move to Louisiana, as well as developing a workforce for existing Louisiana companies. LED works with four-year, two-year, and technical schools to develop courses for specific jobs, including certificate programs.
