The office of Attorney General Jeff Landry announced last Thursday that a man was arrested on suspected workers’ compensation fraud exceeding $100,000. The man, booked in Lafourche Parish, was arrested on one count of theft exceeding $25,000 and one count of misrepresentation concerning benefit payments. He allegedly advised his employer that he had been injured on the job site when he bent over and could not get up. A joint investigation between Attorney General Jeff Landry’s General Investigations Unit and the Louisiana Workforce Commission Fraud Unit, found that the worker was actually injured at home in previous weeks and not on the job site.
