GE Oil & Gas in Pineville and Blue Sky Innovations LLC in Lafayette will lay off over 300 employees, according to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notifications (WARNs) issued through the Louisiana Workforce Commission. GE Oil & Gas plans to lay off 269 of its 289 manufacturing, sales and engineering employees. The layoffs, announced Friday, will begin September 2nd and continue through December. Blue Sky Innovations announced June 30th that it lost the bid to its only full-time client. The company was given a 30-day notice to end the existing contract, resulting in 55 layoffs. All hourly employees will be terminated by the end of July. Salaried positions will shutter by the end of the year.
