In local news:

Governor John Bel Edwards released a statement about his meeting with President Obama last week about the Louisiana flooding recovery effort. In the prepared remarks, Governor Edwards explained: “[Friday] morning, I had the opportunity to meet with President Obama to update him on the flood relief efforts in Louisiana and to stress the needs of our state during this critical period of recovery. As we continue to work with Congress in the coming days, I want to thank the president and the Louisiana delegation for their efforts to secure necessary relief funds for our state. We still have work to do, but I’m optimistic that we will get Louisiana citizens the assistance they need to rebuild by continuing to work together.”
