Local reports indicate that Pennsylvania-based Ilera Holistic Healthcare is the new operator of Southern University’s medical marijuana program; Advanced Biometrics was the previous growing partner. Only two universities, LSU and Southern, can grow medical marijuana, under Louisiana’s current law. Southern’s program has been stalled since the beginning, due to internal issues at Advanced Biometrics. LSU’s program has been slow going, with the state’s Department of Agriculture and Forestry butting heads with LSU’s growing partner GB Sciences. The earliest patients will have access to the product is late January 2019.
