In local news:

LWC Rapid Response team and workforce-development officials in North Louisiana, in partnership with a prominent paper-manufacturing employer as well as the Arkansas Governor’s Dislocated Worker Task Force, are seeking employers to participate in an upcoming job fair for workers to be displaced in upcoming months. Georgia-Pacific Chemicals, in Crossett, Ark., will cease its bleached-board operations in the fall. As a result, several hundred workers – many of whom reside in Morehouse, Union, Ouachita, Lincoln, East Carroll and surrounding Louisiana parishes – will need to pursue employment elsewhere. To ease the upcoming career transition for these workers, Georgia Pacific, the LWC and its affiliates in North Louisiana have scheduled a job fair for July 23 and 24, 10-4, at the Learning Center, Crossett Paper Operations, in Crossett, Ark.
