Beyond Katrina: Lessons in Creating Resilient Communities makes several key points based on the insurance industry’s collective shock from Hurricane Katrina’s devastation a decade ago. These include: devoting more resources to pre-event preparation rather than post-event recovery, using measured resilience of organizations to guide investment, and addressing the “affordability gap” in in pre- and post-disaster funding.
