Louisiana’s health department has acquired 8,640 doses of naloxone, (an emergency treatment for opioid and heroin overdoses) donated by a manufacturer. According to a CityBusiness report, Health and Hospitals Secretary Kathy Kliebert said Monday that officials are working to get the naloxone auto-injectors to local police and fire departments statewide for emergency medical services. Louisiana has one of highest rates of opioid abuse in  the country.
