A new analysis of pharmacy cost data shows there was an 8.7 percent drop in spending on drugs in 2015 in workers’ compensation injury cases. CompPharma’s Annual Survey of Prescription Drug Management in Workers’ Compensation analyzed the 2015 pharmacy cost data of 30 payers including workers’ compensation insurance carriers, third-party administrators, self-insured employers and state funds. The decline in 2015 is consistent with the overall downward drug cost trend seen over the last six years, which was interrupted by a 6.4 percent rise in 2014, according to the annual report.
