Poly-substance abuse cases are of increasing concern in the workers’ comp community. Roberto Ceniceros explores this issue in relation to the South Coast Framing v. Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board in the California Supreme Court. The case involves a mix of drugs, some for the treatment of a workers’ comp injury and some unrelated, that together contributed to a man’s death. The question at hand is how contributory questions involving pharmaceuticals affect whether or not death benefits are due.
