CMS found in an annual review that 758 hospitals, including several in Louisiana, failed to reach federal targets for hospital-acquired infections and will see a one percent payment reduction to all Medicare discharges for a year. The reduction will save CMS an estimated $364 million. Penalized Louisiana hospitals, according to data acquired by Healthcare Finance News, include: Southern Surgical Hospital, Tulane Medical Center, St. Charles Surgical Center, University Hospital & Clinics, Lakeview Regional Medical Center, Surgical Specialty Center Of Baton Rouge, Lafayette General Medical Center, and Our Lady Of The Lake Regional Medical Center.
