However, as Steven Davidoff Soloman explains, the challenges against Uber’s independent contractor focused business model are “not just about the workplace. This litigation is becoming a Rorschach test for people’s views of the sharing economy and whether it is a force for good – or for exploitation.” Soloman goes on to discuss the class action suit against Uber in California and how the determination of statutory employer status could vary.
