Recent research from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) indicates that 75 percent of workplace harassment victims experienced retaliation when they reported it. In 2016, the EEOC released a comprehensive study of workplace harassment in the United States, which concluded that “anywhere from 25 percent to 85 percent of women report having experienced sexual harassment in the workplace.” The issue affects both genders and ranges from offensive comments to assault and rape. Male-dominated industries like construction, low wage workers, and the hospitality industry had high rates of harassment.
