President Trump will order his health secretary to declare the opioid crisis a public health emergency today – but will stop short of declaring a more sweeping state of national emergency as his opioid commission previously recommended, according to reporting from USA Today. Governor John Bel Edwards announced that he and Health Secretary Rebekah Gee will attend a listening session of the White House announcement event.
