President Trump is expected to sign a bipartisan measure today that aims to make illicit drugs less available through the mail, and increase access to opioid abuse treatment. According to Reuters, the legislation expands Medicaid access to substance abuse; increases efforts to stop mailed shipments of fentanyl; and creates new federal grants to address the crisis. The bill comes amid criticism earlier this week from a Government Accountability Office report which found that the Trump administration’s emergency declaration to address the opioid crisis has fallen short.
