A new study from the American Journal of Industrial Medicine found that injured workers who suffered an injury that kept them home for one week or more had much higher suicide and overdose rates than the general population. The researchers, which used data from 100,000 workers in New Mexico, found that women with such serious injuries were 193 percent more likely to die from an overdose and 92 percent more likely to die by suicide. Men in this group were 29 percent more likely to die by overdose and 72 percent more likely to die by suicide.
