OSHA cited two Texas businesses for major violations. The agency cited Maverick Arms Inc. in Eagle Pass, Texas for one willful and 23 serious violations, following a planned inspection under the Regional Emphasis Program for Fabricated Metal Products. The willful violation was for failing to implement controls to reduce excessive noise levels. The serious violations include electrical, general industry falls and amputation hazards, along with failing to provide medical evaluations for respirator users, or to control and protect against lead exposure. Total proposed penalties equal $197,000. Also released yesterday in OSHA’s enforcement log were citations issued to another Texas company, this time in construction, following the death of a worker. The owner of Pirul Trim Service (a subcontractor) was personally fined $38,800, while general contractor Blazer Building Inc. was fined $8,400, after a man fell 36 feet from a fourth floor apartment complex under construction.
