A court affirmed a $12.3 million award to a family of a worker after an accident in Houston. The men were riding in a pickup to a jobsite behind their supervisor who had failed to secure a trailer full of equipment. The equipment dislodged and when the men stopped to help, they were hit by a third vehicle. The father was injured and the son died. The company’s workers’ comp insurer denied the claim because they were traveling to work. A personal injury suit resulted in steep compensation.
