An oil field rig exploded in West Texas killing three workers on March 10th. Investigator Dusty Kilgore of the Upton County Sheriff’s Office told the Associated Press that the accident happened Tuesday morning near Rankin, about 40 miles south of Midland. The explosion happened as a well maintenance outfit (or “pulling unit”) was working. The well is owned by Parsley Energy of Midland. A company spokeswoman for Parsley Energy confirmed that the workers who died were employed by Mason Well Service Ltd. of Odessa, an independent contractor. The names of the deceased have not yet been released.
