Insurance Journal issued a report on important information for agents operating in Texas. Effective July 1st, Texas will utilize the NCCI Experience Rating Plan. The switch means that the calculation of experience modifiers will undergo several changes all at once, which could have a material impact on a policyholder’s e-mod, particularly if the policyholder is on the verge of a 1.00 modifier, often used as a standard for contractors bidding on a project. The changes to the e-mod formula could trigger increases in the experience modifiers for many companies, even if there are no changes in loss experience.
