Authorities have identified the three workers who died in an explosion at the Packaging Corporation of America plant in DeRidder. The Beauregard Daily News reported yesterday that the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office identified 33-year-old William Rolls, Jr.; 42-year-old Sedrick Stallworth; and 41-year-old Jody Gooch as victims in the accident. Seven others were hurt in the February 8th explosion; six of the injuries were minor and one was moderate. Louisiana State Police Sgt. James Anderson said welding had been going on near a tank that exploded. Louisiana State Police, OSHA officials and the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office are investigating the explosion. PCA has a history of deaths and safety violations at its other facilities around the country, but has not reported any since it acquired the DeRidder plant.
