Oklahoma Labor Commissioner Mark Costello was stabbed to death in public Sunday evening, apparently during a failed attempt to reconcile with his adult son. The son, 26-year-old Christian Costello, asked his parents to meet him at a restaurant in Oklahoma City where they later got into an argument and the younger Costello stabbed his father around 6:30 PM. After making his way to the parking lot to seek help, Mark Costello was stabbed again by his son before fellow diners were able to stop the attack. The elder Costello was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Costello leaves behind his wife, two sons and two daughters. Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin must appoint a successor to serve the remainder of Costello’s four-year term. He was first elected in 2010 and reelected in 2014.
