The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board has announced its 2015 “Most Wanted List” with greater emphasis on trucking safety. The office, which has no regulatory authority, urged highway regulators to act on more than 100 recommendations it has issued in previous years, especially as fatalities involving trucks have now increased for four consecutive years. In 2013, 3,964 people died in large truck accidents. Truckers have many workplace risks but driver fatigue is major one that also affects the travelling public. The NTSB has recommended that individual companies impose better procedures to screen for driver fatigue.
