WCRI released the 18th edition of its CompScope Medical Benchmarks for Louisiana, using data mostly from 2010-2015. Major findings include:
- Medical payments per claim grew 4 percent from 2010-2015 for claims at 12 months’ experience, which was higher than most states. Hospital payments were the main culprit.
- A decrease in the number of medical visits per claim, which WCRI attributes to the Medical Treatment Guidelines implementation in 2011
- Louisiana had especially high hospital outpatient payments, particularly payments per service. WCRI attributes this to percentage-based reimbursement model.
