In research news:

A total of 165.2 million persons worked at some point during 2017, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported late last year. The proportion of the civilian noninstitutional population age 16 and over who worked at some time during 2017 was 64.2 percent, little changed from 2016. The number of persons who experienced some unemployment during 2017 declined by 1.1 million to 14.5 million.
