In safety news:

OSHA slapped Cotton Commercial USA Inc. in Katy, Texas with $362,500 in fines after the company denied a worker’s request for a safety harness, failed to report the same worker’s hospitalization after a 12 foot fall through a roof caused him severe injury, and then misled OSHA investigators about the details of the accident. According to an OSHA release, Cotton Commercial waited three days to report the injury. After the injury, the company apparently supplied workers with safety harnesses. Gretna, Louisiana-based Gardia Construction, which provided the laborers to Cotton Commercial, received a citation for one serious violation and a fine of $4,900, for failing to conduct frequent and regular inspections of the job site where its laborers worked.
