Justin Construction Co. LLC of Jacksonville, FL, has been cited for a relatively rare “willful” as well as repeat violations, according to a press release via the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The inspections began on February 14th of this year as part of a local program called the Regional Emphasis Program on Falls in Construction. Penalties include $186,340 for six total violations. The three willful violations were cited for the employer’s failure to provide a fall protection system at two job sites, where employees were conducting decking work at heights of 6 feet or more, and for allowing workers to use the top step of a stepladder. A willful violation is one committed with intentional knowing or voluntary disregard for the law’s requirements, or with plain indifference to worker safety and health. Read the full release here.
