Self-Insurance Institute of America, Inc. (SIIA) reported yesterday the death of past chairman Richard C. “Dick” Goff. Goff died on February 28th after an accident at home led to medical complications and ultimately cardiac arrest. He was 69 years old. Goff was managing director of The Taft Companies, a captive insurance company management firm in Towson, Maryland. SIIA stated in their news release that Goff was “instrumental in broadening SIIA’s focus on the alternative risk transfer (ART) industry and wrote the ART Gallery column in the Self-Insurer Magazine for more than 10 years.” Goff was also a founding director of captive industry associations in Washington, D.C., Montana and South Carolina, and was on the current board of the associations in Montana and Delaware.
